Talawanda cross country starts strong


On Saturday, August 26 at the Talawanda Cross Country Invitational 8th grader Kiefer Bell set a new course record of 11:22 in the 2 mile race, beating the previous record of 11:39 by 17 seconds, and capturing 1st place.  The Talawanda boys also had 5 of the top 10 runners in Bell (1), Zeke Groom (4), Luke West-Poley (5), Jonathan Hall (7), and Daryl Zazycki (8).  Rounding out the scorers for the Braves were Daniel Mullaly and Parker Geshan.  The boys team closed out the meet with a first place team finish.
The Talawanda girls team also had some impressive finishes on Saturday with Hannah Lippincott finishing 3rd overall, followed closely behind by Eva Motta in 4th.  Lilly Iden also added in a top 20 finish, finishing in 17th place.
On Tuesday at the Edgewood Invitational, The girls had a strong showing with 3 Talawanda runners in the top 10.  Eva Motta cranked out a 1st place run, with Hannah Lippincott 2nd overall.  Lilly Iden finished in 6th.
The boys had another impressive team finish as well, with all 7 scoring runners finishing in the top 15.  Kiefer Bell grabbed another 1st place overall win, followed by Luke West Poley (3),  Zeke Groom (4), Daryl Zazycki (7), Jonathan Hall (8), Daniel Mullaly (9), and Parker Geshan (11).  The boys brought home their 2nd team champion trophy.
