SWOC Spotlight: Ross Middle School

Last year, Ross Middle School started some new groups/clubs that contributed to the outstanding climate and culture at RMS.  The RMS SALT (student athletic leadership team) completed multiple community service acts during Thanksgiving and Christmas to assist Ross families that needed a little help during the holidays.  As part of their leadership initiative, they gave R.A.M.S. (respectful, accountable, motivated, service) presentations to the incoming 5th graders to welcome them to RMS and share the core values of our school.    They also worked with the RHS SALT and got a chance to listen and learn from some outstanding speakers throughout the year.

The Jr RAMS group was created to give kids a chance to show their collaborative skills in designing and implementing service projects throughout the school.  The team works on identifying and solving “problems” at school to help create a better environment for their peers.  This group also helps plan our “RAMS Rallies” (pep rallies) that we will hold three times during the school year.

This year, RMS has created the Jr HERD to shadow the award winning Golden Megaphone finalist “The HERD” of Ross High School.  This group will stay after school and complete a service project before going to games and cheering on our middle school teams.

In athletics, RMS is looking to build off its success from the 2018-2019 school year.  The middle school Rams captured league/tourney titles in 7th grade football, 8th grade volleyball, wrestling, 7th grade boys basketball, 8th grade boys basketball and girls track and field.
