SWOC Spotlight: Talawanda Middle School

Talawanda Middle School, in conjunction with Luna Cares, kicked off the “A Brave Cares” events in honor of October’s focus on cancer awareness. The 7th and 8th grade TMS volleyball teams, along with the Edgewood Middle School volleyball teams, sported their colors to bring awareness to the fight so many are facing. The Talawanda girls wore purple, representing all cancers, and the Edgewood girls wore pink for breast cancer.  The teams honored those in attendance who had battled, or were currently battling, the disease by presenting them with ribbons, and had a moment to recognize anyone they knew who had been affected with signs.

The event was just the first, with other similar events happening at other middle school and high school athletic events, throughout the month.   All proceeds from the activities, including T-shirt sales, bake sales, and raffles, will be given to the Luna Cares Fund to support local women and families who are facing this all too common battle.
